Brazilian Walnut Stairs

Project Notes: These new Brazilian Walnut (also known as IPE) stairs were built to match the existing IPE deck, creating a transition from the living space to outdoor space that adds to the aesthetic appeal of this backyard. The rich tones of the Brazilian walnut complement the deep hues of the IPE wood, creating a sophisticated and unified look. Brazilian Walnut is the densest wood in the world that’s commercially available and has a lifespan of 75+ years. It has the density to withstand any abuse and is a great option for households with pets or high foot traffic.

Notched Rail Fence

Project Notes: This beautiful cedar fence replaced a tired old hedge that once stood in its place which completely changed the look and feel of the space. This fence features meticulously crafted notched rails, walnut plugs, and copper post tops that only get better with age. The side gate was crafted using joinery and has the weight to give a clean sound like a car door closing. This fence was a lot of fun to build and all the small details really make this a statement piece.

Inlay Composite Deck

Project Notes: A three color Trex composite deck build enhanced with a border and inlay to add some design detail to the deck and break up the square footage into three distinct areas. The deck was finished with Trex fascia boards and cedar lattice work. Composite is a great low maintenance alternative to a traditional cedar or hardwood deck.

Trellis and Curved Fence

Project Notes: This project involved the installation of a new deck and fence made of exquisite clear cedar. The front showcases beautifully curved fence rails, a result of meticulous craftsmanship using a steam box for bending. Additionally, the trellis boasts intricate joinery, adding a touch of artisanal elegance to the overall design. The project was finished using a high quality oil stain.

Sliding Deck Storage

Project Notes: This project started with the installation of new ipe risers on an existing deck. The rich tones of the ipe added a touch of elegance and durability to the deck, enhancing its overall appearance. Additionally, I designed and installed a sliding storage door underneath the deck, providing practical and discreet storage space for outdoor essentials. To complement the deck and storage door, I crafted a custom curved gate that not only serves as a functional entry point but also as a stylish focal point.
